Fighting Terrorism

These are the days
Terror reigns and virtue flounders
God save that land where brother turns against brother
Children turn against the mother

But do you not feel that the root of all this is in our heart
That every time we break a law we are bulldozing a new path
For a terrorist to tread
Every time we jump a signal
Every time we steal music or a movie
Every time we buy stolen goods
Every time we evade tax
Every time we bribe an officer on duty
Every time we choose a politician because he suits our needs and greeds
Or every time we do not go out and vote during elections

External security will be dealt to you only if you are secure inside,
And all the way inside.
Help a person get a job and settle in life,
That is one person less on the prospective terrorist list.
Do not discriminate against a religion or a section
That is one less segment that will take up arms to get justice
Do not crack Sardarji Jokes which will disconnect them from the main stream
Refrain from using words like Bloody Bihari, Mallu, Gujju, Mozzy, Bong or Madraasi

I know not of another people who are more racist than the most racist clan in the world.
Let us understand we are people of this world and the world belongs to us
All acts, good and bad, cost a price to be paid and in full
Let us understand that a forest in Brazilian Amazon affects a person in Thailand
A Lehman Brother in New York can destroy someone in Chennai
A rogue residing in Karachi can decide the fate of an Israeli in Mumbai
The price for globalisation, I suppose.

We should learn another lesson, here and now.
That dissent leads to dissidence, and that the extreme form of dissidence is terrorism.
Dissent in a population comes due to discrimination.
And Discrimination is something that we all practice in one form or the other

Let us give up this race of trying to prove that we are superior to others.
Win people, terrorism cannot be fought with weapons.
We have to have a holistic approach
Create a healthy community free of corruption and hatred
Do not be very forgiving towards people who want to divide us on caste, state subscription, religion and terrorism
Do not be afraid to sacrifice your needs for restoration of values in your society.
